The data model

The minimum data needed to find organisations that complement each other, and nothing more. Version 0, and it will grow as the work does.

Core building blocks

EntityWhat it holdsKey fields
AspirationA dated wish for change by an actortheme, description, scale, target year, source and source date, location
ActorAn organisation, or a person acting publicly for onename, type, role (doer, funder, knowledge holder, user), sector, size, public-private fit, website, location
RelationA known link between two actorstype (partnership, shared goal, earlier collaboration), source, date, trust level (stated, evidenced, proven)
CommitmentWhat an actor will start, maintain or stopaction, offer, need, theme, horizon, public source
InvestmentMoney, time or assets pledged or soughtdirection, form, ticket size band, horizon, return logic (financial, social, resilience)
Match and outcomeA proposed coalition and what happenedmembers, score and breakdown, red flags, status, outcome notes, date

Cross-cutting details

These are not separate products. They are sets of fields that attach to the core building blocks where relevant.

Context data

Mostly drawn from open sources and linked by place and theme. It explains why a coalition matters now.

ContextExamplesUse
Resilienceexposure to heat, flood, drought, supply-chain and labour shocksShows urgency and shared risk
Opportunityfunding calls, markets, idle assets, redeployable capacityShows what can be unlocked
Foresighttrends, scenarios, Images of 2040Gives direction and timing
PracticeSumnetics methods and team readingsShows whether a coalition can work together

How it fits together

  • An actor owns aspirations, makes commitments, pledges or seeks investment and holds property.
  • A commitment serves an aspiration and can be backed by investment or property.
  • Relations link actors to each other.
  • A match groups actors, aspirations and commitments into a proposed coalition.
  • Location, innovation and AI engagement attach to actors, aspirations, commitments and property; context joins by place and theme.

Illustrative example, not a real record: a housing nonprofit wants to cool 500 homes by 2030; a firm commits to start retrofits; a fund seeks a resilience return; an idle roof is offered. Together they form a proposed match.
