Synergy surprise NEW

Two organisations you would never pair. Until you see the data.

The best partnerships often hide across domains: heat next to cold stores, idle robots next to repair cafés, closed kitchens next to newcomer chefs. Press the button and see one.

  • Why they fit: a shared aspiration, complementary assets or a useful dependency.
  • Real data to start: each pair links to sources from our catalogue.
  • Share it: every surprise has its own link.

Data mixer NEW

Make a new dataset from open data

Pick open statistics from different domains, mix them by country and year, add a ratio or composite score, and download the result with every source cited.

  • 22 live ingredients from the World Bank and Eurostat, plus your own CSV.
  • Ready to reuse: CSV, JSON and DCAT-AP metadata.
  • Private: runs in your browser, nothing is stored.

Open data directory

491 open data sources, ready to filter

Portals, APIs and research datasets from 39 countries and the main global bodies. Each is tagged by theme, coverage, licence, update frequency and the part of the data layer it informs.

How it works

Find, collect, store and share

The full path from a question to data you can use, and back to data others can use.

    Find

Search a curated catalogue of open and paid sources by topic, place, format and access.

When open data is not enough

Some of the best data is held by companies, registers and research panels that charge for access or share it only under agreement. Tell us what you need, or what you hold, and we help set up a fair, lawful exchange.

  • Buy or license: 18 paid sources listed, from flood maps to trade and company data.
  • Apply for access: restricted microdata for research, with secure analysis environments.
  • Agree a data-sharing deal: with an organisation that holds operational, sensor or asset data.
  • The holder sets the terms. Sending a request or an offer is free and does not commit you.
  • Statistics Netherlands (CBS) · Netherlands · Microdata

Linked record-level data on people, households, companies and addresses, analysed inside a secure CBS environment. Only aggregated results leave.

Example use: Study how newcomers or workers fare over years with linked national records.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this free?

Yes. Searching, downloading our open data and sending a request or offer are free. We do not charge for corrections or removal. If a third party charges for its data, you see its terms before you commit.

What is the difference between curated sources and the open data directory?

Curated sources are 64 hand-picked listings with an example use and access route, including paid and restricted data. The open data directory lists 491 open portals, APIs and research datasets, tagged by theme, coverage, licence and update frequency. 43 sources appear in both.

Do you host the data from these sources?

No. Each listing links to the original publisher, so you always get the latest, official version. We store the catalogue itself, the data model and the datasets we publish ourselves.

Under which licence can I reuse your data?

Our catalogue and own datasets are published under CC BY 4.0: reuse them freely with attribution. Every listed source keeps its own licence. We show it where known, but always check at the source.

Can I get data that is not open?

Often, yes. Some data is sold, licensed, or shared only under agreement or with researchers. Use Private data to ask for access, or to offer data you hold. The data holder sets the terms.

What data do you accept?

Data about organisations, places, things and public commitments. No personal data about private individuals.

Can AI agents and scripts use this site?

Yes. The catalogue is available as JSON and CSV with CORS enabled. llms.txt and an OpenAPI description explain the endpoints.

Know a source we are missing?

Suggest it in two minutes, or tell us what data you cannot find. We check every suggestion and reply by email.
